From the May 25th 2014 50th Class Reunion Booklet Spouse: Seth Wheatley III Children: 1 daughter, Jeannie Hill Haddon and her husband, Michael Grandchildren: Drew-10 and Ella Haddon-8 I am a graduate of Ole Miss in Oxford, MS. I have been retired since 1995 from a career as a bookkeeper and accountant. Worked for public schools and retired as Comptroller for Mun Energy Agency of MS. Later worked part time for a local CPA and had a home business booking mystery shoppers and scheduling. The past couple of years I have seen some "old Folks" surgeries but am fully recovered now. Love retirement!
Hobbies are traveling--seems like I'm always in my little Honda Hybrid driving back and forth from Arkansas mountains escaping the MS. Delta. Grandchildren, community theater, genealogy, book club, and church/charity stuff take up the rest of my time. Also do photography & documentation for the Find-A-Grave website and am officer in our state & local TEA Party. Oh--and read true Crime books. I know lots of ways to hide a body.

3. How/where did you meet your spouse
Seth & I married in Nov. 2000. We're long-time friends from the local community theater. In '97 we did a production here of "Mash" & got together while working on that show.
4. Your spouses' occupation
He's purchasing agent/computer guy for the regional mental health facility.
5. Did you attend college or special schooling - what study
Finally graduated from Ole Miss in 1988! They graciously accepted nearly all my English lit & drama hours from the 60's at Omaha U & I completed about 7 additional yrs of classes at night, summers, etc. My major field was Accounting but the sequence of classes only allowed for a BusAdm degree.
6. Your occupation before retirement
Worked 16 1/2 yrs for Greenwood City Schools as a bookkeeper, then 8 1/2 yrs at Municipal Energy Agency of Mississippi in Jackson, MS, as Comptroller. I retired from municipal service in 1995. Since then I've worked part-time for a CPA, traveled doing some consulting, and run my own small home business for two years. In 2006 I fully retired & now keep our 2-yr old granddaughter.
7. Favorite place (city/state) where you have lived and why
I've lived in Mississippi since '71 and love our state. Of course Decatur and Omaha will always be high on my list of favorite spots. In the late '60s I lived in Long Beach, CA, and married a man from Greenwood, moving here when he got out of the Navy. We were also stationed in San Diego and Newport News, VA, for a time. However - I guess the place I actually loved the most was Bremerton, WA. We lived there for six months - like all seasons in WA they were rainy. The people were very like NE folks and the woods and little city were a wonderland of wildlife and great scenery. Seth has never seen that part of the country so it's definitely on a list of places we plan to visit in the future.
8. How many children, if any
One daughter, Jeannie. She's Operations Manager for a helicopter service & married to a wonderful guy, Michael Haddon.
They live in rural Carroll County with plenty of room for our wild grandchildren to roam around.
9. Grandchildren
After nearly 10 yrs of marriage Jeannie & Michael had their 1st child in 2004 - they now have two kids. Drew will be 5 in April. He's a little fireball, very verbal, and nearly as smart-alec as I was. He's starting T-ball & loves Thomas the Train. Ella will be 3 in April. She acts like a princess, just batting her eyes & expecting her "BeeBaw" (Seth) and "MeeMaw" (me) to wait on her and produce cookies & tea & entertainment. Seth has no children of his own & is younger than me, so he has really taken to being a grandpa. They saw him on stage in a play for the first time a couple months ago and were pretty impressed!
10. Special hobbies
I'm still a theater nut and very active in our community theater. But age has taken a toll on the ability to learn lines so I mainly direct productions now, including "Music Man" last year and "Noises Off" coming up next spring. I've been quite surprised how retirement agrees with me. I still sew and craft but mainly chase the 2 yr old.
11. Any other details you care to share
We enjoy traveling and have been lucky enough to see quite a few parts of this country. We vacation in Arkansas at Mountain View-Blanchard Springs nearly every summer. This year we found ourselves over Labor Day stuck in St. Cloud, MN, after brother-in-law's wedding, with no train service back south due to hurricane delays. We rented a car with Seth's 87 yr old father along & drove back comparatively near to NE. I so wish we'd been able to detour through Decatur and pass a day or two. For anyone headed to the southeast, we're 1/2 way between Memphis & Jackson, MS, just off I-55 & always glad to hear from people from home. It's actually interesting country as Greenwood is the absolute heart of the Mississippi delta. I've been working on geneology recently and have a web site on GENI.com with Busse & Watson families quite complete & would be glad to share or swap info.
Not a day goes by I don't think of something to be thankful for - including my upbringing and education at Decatur. We really did have a wonderful school, good teachers, and a great atmosphere to grow up! About 5 yrs ago an uncle at Auburn NE passed away & I made a very quick trip home. Decatur was so very different, but still looked good to me. I just wish the school was still viable & the economy better. Nothing can dim the memories though.
