Died February 12, 2006

 Funeral services were held Thursday, February 16, 2006, for E. Lyle Smith, 70, of Whitehall, PA, at the Weber Funeral Home in Allentown, PA.

Edgar Lyle Smith passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2006, in Sacred Heart Hospital.

E. Lyle, Smith was born in Decatur, NE, the son of the late Leroy and Gertrude (Darling) Smith.  Lyle graduated from Decatur High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in education from Wayne State College in Nebraska.

He was united in marriage to Dolores Billowitch, and they were the parents of one daughter, Kathleen.

Lyle furthered his education doing graduate work at Kutztown University in Pa.  He was a lieutenant commander in the Navy during the Vietnam era and served in the Philippines and in Sicily.  He worked for Parkland School District for 30 years as a teacher in Springhouse Junior High School.  He was a member of American Legion Post 367 of Fullerton, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2004; and brothers, Marvin and Pete.

Survivors include their daughter, Kathleen Smith of Nashville, TN; brother, Robert Smith of Birmingham, AL; sisters, Emma Lou Crom of Salem, Or; and Juanita Richardson of Decatur, NE

Weber Funeral Homes was in charge of the arrangements.
