John Walker (Deceased)

 

 John "Jack" Walker, 85 died September 4, 2001 at Nebraska Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Omaha.    Services were September 7 at Kahler-Dolce Mortuary with the Rev G. Wesly Ballard officiating.

Burial was at Decatur Hillcrest Cemetery with Cory, Chris, Justin and Chase Lesley, J.D. Roundy and Alex Gilliland, all great-grand sons, as pallbearers.

He was born February 16, 1916 in Decatur, the son of Jennie and Louis Walker.  He graduated from Decatur High School in 1935.

As a young boy, he lived with his mother and grandmother on the farm.  He loved the farm and his pony, Tony.

August 29, 1936, he was united in marriage to Mae Dunning at Madison.  They lived in Decatur and Omaha with their two daughters.

Walker worked for Clinton Hughes, Drummond, Hale and Johnie Stroble in Decatur.  After a move to Omaha in 1961, he was employed by Wright and Wilhelmy and Papillion-LaVista Schools for 18 years.  He retired in 1983.  The couple then traveled to many states, including Alaska.
