Mass services for Anna Mildred Larson were held Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at the Holy Family Church in Decatur, NE.  Father Jim Kramper officiated.

Anna Mildred Larsen passed away on Friday, November 8, 2002, at the Homestead Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln NE, at the age of 85 years.

Dot Connealy performed the special music at the service.  There was a Rosary on Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at the Hamel-Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.  Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Decatur, NE.  Todd Maly, Lyle Larsen II, Gary Heilbrun, Doug Mikkonen, Jeff Syata, Steve Syata and Brian Larsen served as the Casket Bearers.   Honorary Casket Bearers were Jim Eagleton, Kurtz Sears, Ned Maryott, Emmett Connealy, Paul Tobin and Wilbur Farrens.

Anna Mildred Larsen was born May 7, 1917, in Dixon, NE to J. W. and Alice Mary (Murray) McCloud.

Mildred spent her early childhood at Dixon and moved to Decatur, NE with her family, where she attended Decatur Public Schools and graduated from Decatur High School in 1935.

On June 25, 1937, Mildred and Paul Larsen were united in marriage at Tekamah, Nebraska.  To this union three children were born:  Constance Mae in 1938, Lyle Dennis in 1943 and Phyllis Ann in 1948.  Mildred lived around Decatur her entire married life.  She was active in Holy Family Catholic Church, Alter Society, Blackbird Ladies Aid and the Sunshine Club.

Mildred loved to golf and bowl and had many trophies of her achievements.  She was very proud of her nine grandchildren and enjoyed spoiling them.  She made sure everyone of them had one of her handmade quilts.  She also made baby quilts for all eight of her great-grandchildren.  Mildred loved to cook and she always put up many quarts of food.  She will be remembered for her minced meat and, of course, her pickles.

Paul died in 1970.  Shortly afterwards, Mildred started being cook and housekeeper for several priests in Omaha, Ralston and Tekamah.  In 1992, she moved to Anselmo, NE, where she was active in the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post No 6926, St Anselmo Catholic Church, Alter Society and the Senior Citizens Center.  She lived in Anselmo until September 2002, when she went to live at Homestead Care Center in Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; two brothers, Don and Jim McCloud; two sisters, Madalyn Lenig and Mae Kjelgaard; and a son-in-law, Jim Syata

Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Lyle and Pat Larsen of Decatur; daughters, Connie Syata of Burnsville MN; Phyllis Larsen of Anselmo; sister, Grace Mary Kathol of Omaha; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Hamel-Peck-Palen Funeral Home in Tekamah, NE was in charge of funeral arrangements.
