Donald E. Uehling (deceased)

February 9, 1947  -  October 4, 2007

Funeral services were Monday, October 8, at First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa, for Donald "Butch" Uehling of Decatur.  He died Thursday, October 4, 2007, at a Sioux City, Iowa, hospital at the age of 60.  The Rev. Don Collison officiated.  Ann Phillips was organist.

Donald was born February 9, 1947, at Lyons, NE, to Russell Uehling and Fern Jacobsen.  He attended school at Elm Creek Country School and graduated from Decatur High School in 1965.

He entered the United States Army on February 21, 1966, and served in Vietnam.  He received an honorable discharge February 20, 1969.

He married Janet Sick on September 3, 1982, at Onawa.  Later he attended Western Iowa Tech and received an associate's degree in computer programming.  He owned and operated Janz Restaurant in Onawa since 1995 and also the Spartan Cafe for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Janet, of 25 years of Decatur; daughter, Angela (Gerele) Jones of Tekamah; sons, Donnie, Jedediah (Kayla) and Brice, all of Decatur; grandchildren, Lavery, Loghan, Lilly Dalton, Gabrielle, Dalien, Donovan, Tressa and Aeva; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Barb of Ponca, Glen and Wendy of Orlando, FL; and Bob and Ann of Omaha; sisters and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Tony Ayala of Omaha; and Hazel Backen of Fort Collins, CO; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Burial was at Hillcrest Cemetery, Decatur, with military honors conducted by Rogers Crum Post No. 215 American Legion of Decatur.

Casket bearers were Lavery Anderson, Loghan Anderson, Scott Smith, Jack Rife, Gerele Jones and Tony Bellis.

Honorary bearers were Vincent Parker and Brad Haeffner

Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, was in charge of arrangements.
